The "cyclists" from this article really piss me off.

Cyclists Justin Murphy and Greg Johnson, both 24, openly admit that they regularly break traffic laws while biking in the city.

"I never obey a single law," Murphy said flippantly, balancing his black Schwinn fixed-gear near 16th and Walnut streets. "I'm not worried."

"Just because you give respect as a cyclist does not mean you're going to get it by some mysterious bicycle karma," said Julian Root, 24, a bike messenger for TimeCycle.

"As cyclists, we do have equal rights, and I do think equal rights come with equal responsibilities. [But] there's a big difference between a 30-pound bike and a 3,000-pound car."
Sure there's a difference, but like you said, equal rights come with equal responsibilities. Plus, what happens if the drivers of those 3,000-pound cars decide that they don't have to stop for red lights either?

I have been such a total and complete slack-ass. I have not done any real working out or even walking in 3 months. But, that is all about to change. My fiance has decided she wants to loose weight and get in shape. Yesterday, she wanted me to teach her how to use my Bowflex but I explained that was mainly for toning and that she needs to do some cardio exercises in order to loose fat. So, she went out to the garage and used the jump rope for about 5 minutes.

Then, she asked about the other bicycle I have. (When I bought my Trek Valencia, I took the seat and pedals from my Nishiki and put them on the Trek.) So, I aired up the tires of the Nishiki and installed the seat and pedals from the Trek. I then setup the rollers with the front fork stand, adjusted the seat for her and let her ride for a little while. She rode for about 15 minutes. I asked if she wanted to ride down the street, which she did. We rode to the end of the street and she decided she wanted to ride around the block. She ended up riding around the block 3 times.

And, we are planning on walking tonight - as long as the weather permits. I know it is so much easier to maintain a fitness program if you have someone doing it with you.

The last time I walked was January 30th. First, there was bad weather in the 'Plex - snow, sleet and temperatures in the teens. Then, I moved and had to deal with packing and the actual move and then unpacking and I've just been really tired from doing that.

The weather has been pretty bad the last couple weeks. Temps in the teens most of last week with snow and sleet. Yesterday was almost just as bad. Granted, last weekend was great and I should have been walking then. But, we've been kinda busy finding a house. And, there's a jogging trail right behind the house we're moving into so I won't have any excuses. Not to mention, I'll be able to get a treadmill now.

I was supposed to walk last night, and just didn't. My left calf - the tibialis anterior, the muscle that runs along the outside front of the lower leg, along the shin - has been tightening up really bad - also known as anterior shin splints or just shin splints, so I decided to take it easy tonight. I barely even walked a mile. But, instead of my left calf giving me trouble, it was the right.
